The population that was living in poverty was virtually hopeless; it was practically impossible for them to chuck the downward spiral of impoverishment. As the suburbs expanded, many factories were relocated to the suburbs, which eliminated the opportunity that helped earlier immigrants to rise up from poverty. The advancement of technology and machinery replaced the jobs of many fumbling workers. As more a ffluent families moved from cities to suburb! s, the less-skilled minorities moved into inner-city neighborhoods. due to discrimination, the lack of sub-standard learning and stable employment, many resorted to violence and crime.
